Third Grade  red paw

Third grade is an exciting time in your child’s elementary school career.  Now we move from learning-to-read to reading-to-learn. Some of the things your 3rd grader will learn include the science topics of Living Things, Simple Machines, States of Matter, and The Sun, Moon and Earth. Sometimes we share information with our !st grade reading buddies. Third grade is the year your child will learn how to write cursive and multiply. We write multi-paragraph pieces, both expository and narrative, and all 3rd graders write a research report at the end of the year. Your child will be invited to a Boise Philharmonic concert in the Winter and to participate in a fun, year-end crafts and activity afternoon called "Camp Skeeter" (no mosquitoes invited, though!). Throughout it all, we weave in the visual, musical and dramatic arts, making third grade a year full of creative learning and lots of fun.

This is her 12th year teaching, and 4th year at Pioneer. Mrs. Edmiston loves the supportive parent community at Pioneer, and enjoys sharing her love of learning with her amazing third graders. She and her husband have 2 small boys, and she looks forward to many years of family adventures in the great Rocky Mountains.
