Pioneer Puma Choir
Pioneer School of the Arts offers a school choir to all interested 4th and 5th
grade students. It is NOT by audition. It is designed for students who love to
sing, act, play instruments and perform choreography. Learning to perform
together as a team involves a great deal of respect, responsibility, discipline
and perseverance. It's my belief as director that character education is the
foundation for all outstanding performances. Pioneer's choir meets every Monday and Wednesday form 3:45-4:45 in the portable, behind the main building. Those students who are regular members of choir are expected to attend ALL rehearsals. If a day arises where attendance becomes impossible, a note of explanation will be requested from parents/guardians as to the reason for missing a scheduled rehearsal. Parents/Guardians are asked to provide transportation home from regular rehearsals and possibly 'to and from' community performances. Choir members will have opportunities to perform at various community functions, including presentations in Pioneer's own gym. Family and friends may feel free to take pictures and/or video performances. Choir members enjoy watching themselves perform and it's a great way for debriefing what went well and what will need correction. Celebrations of success are realities. Parent teams will be asked to help plan and serve refreshments. Choir attire will include a choir T-shirt worn with black dress pants or black skirts. Black dress shoes are encouraged. Participation costs will include the cost of the T-shirt and a yearly donation of $10 per choir family to help defray costs regarding food, drinks, etc. Please feel free to contact me for questions or concerns. I'll always to happy to visit with you. I believe when we all work together for the good of the students, it becomes a 'win win' situation for everyone. Thanks. Let's look forward to a fantastic year together. Musically, Corlyss J Peterson (peterson.corlyss@meridianschools.org) Wk: 855.4100, Cell: 484.1868 |

K-Kids
K-Kids
provides the opportunity to develop self-esteem, leadership skills,
morals and standards, and respect for others. This program involves
elementary students, their parents, teachers, and Kiwanians in
developing a character education opportunity as well as
exposure
to the concepts of community service and service learning. Members
learn that their opinions and ideas count and that they can be
productive members of society. They form sound personal values and
experience satisfaction in knowing they did something to help improve
the world around them. K-Kids members learn to work together as a group
and yet be strong individually. |
